A recent move to new premises enables us to increase membership vacancies in Oxfordshire's leading Model Railway Club.
We offer excellent facilities including an extensive library, a lecture and feature room and a light workshop for baseboard construction; all are supported by over 60 sociable and helpful members, each providing much needed help and advice.
Future programme plans will be developed to take new members through baseboard construction, track laying and wiring and scenery applications enabling them to construct their own layout with confidence. These events will be supported by our own well established feature evenings during which a member who has developed particular skills will pass these on to members, in many cases there is a “hands on” approach to these evenings.
The club layouts have been seen at a number of exhibitions. Layout 'Ensbury Park' is a continuous run 'N' gauge layout with full scenery and a comprehensive fiddle yard for stock holding. It is of modular construction and can be set up in a variety of plans including 'end-to-end' if required. Layout 'Phitwell End' is in '00' and comprises a terminus station with extensive coaling facilities and motive power depot.
Our new project, “Pentre Road”, which is under construction, will be a through station with an extensive countryside scene running from a large fiddle yard behind the scenes for stock holding giving better timetable operation. There is a lot to do on this project and it is a fantastic opportunity to become involved in the early development stages of layout construction and all it involves.
Leicester Belgrave Road, an end to end horseshoe layout in 00 continues to attract interest. Track is laid and is fully wired and operational. There is still much work to do with scenery, buildings and detail.
For those interested in 009 or 2FS, we have sections of the club constructing layouts in these scales. If you wish to run or test a locomotive for 'N', '00', 'EM' or P4, we have a circular test track.
NEW, a small new N Gauge layout is currently in the planning stages and is an opportunity to get involved.
Club evenings are Wednesday and Friday, but Friday is the best night for a first visit.
For that first visit, send an email to secretary@admrc.org.uk who will direct you to our club house.
Come and see us and and find out what we can offer you for your hobby.
